R&D Engineer

Job Description

As an R&D Engineer for our client in Ghent, you will play a pivotal role in the development and optimization of the product line within the cooked category. Working closely with our production and quality departments, you will be responsible for generating crucial information related to materials, products, and processes.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, evaluate, and execute R&D projects in alignment with company strategy, under the guidance of the R&D Manager.
• Provide technical support to operations managers and the quality department, actively participating in the production process.
• Implement improvement and cost minimization plans for designated product lines.
• Maintain and update the factory documentation system.
• Define specifications for raw materials and other materials used in production.
• Ensure compliance with local and European legal regulations and company guidelines.
• Collaborate with central departments such as quality and sourcing to achieve objectives.

Your Profile

Who are we looking for?

• Master's degree in bio-engineering; specialization in meat processing preferred.
• Passion for food production processes and a drive for optimization and innovation.
• Previous experience in R&D or quality roles within the food processing industry.
• Strong interest in food trends and consumer behavior.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe.
• Fluency in Dutch and English; knowledge of French is a plus.
